After a handful of disaffected Republicans teamed up with Democratic lawmakers to deny the House speakership to GOP nominee Bill O'Brien, the former speaker’s supporters began plotting their revenge.
One of the most vocal was Free State Project chair Aaron Day, who announced plans to raise money for primary challengers who take on the “Republican turncoats.”
“Stark360 is back!” he wrote, referring to his libertarian super PAC. “The first order of business is to raise money to fund candidates to primary the Republican turncoats who backed Shawn Jasper. Please donate now!” he urged. “The money raised will go directly to the candidates. Recruitment begins today!”
The money raised will go directly to the candidates – if it doesn’t get lost along the way.
Stark filed its post-general report with the FEC today. The super PAC has $4,615 cash on hand with $20,000 in outstanding loans from Day and Stark co-founder Matt Philips. The PAC listed receipts of $20,000 from Day and Philips and $36,610 in disbursements that included $21,747 to Day’s company, ARD Ventures II.
And then there’s this eye-catching line item: a $920 disbursement for “Lost bitcoins.”
