State Rep. Susan DeLemus chooses sides between Trump and Pope: ‘The Pope is the anti-Christ’
State Rep. Susan DeLemus (R-Rochester) made national headlines last year with her, shall we say, spirited defense of Donald Trump during a CNN focus group discussion.
The Rochester Republican reacted with similar zeal yesterday when Pope Francis criticized the billionaire real estate mogul and suggested he “is not Christian” because of his campaign promise to build a wall along the border with Mexico.
“The Pope is the anti-Christ. Do your research,” DeLemus wrote on her Facebook page.
“I don’t like the Pope’s politics either,” replied a Facebook friend, “but if he accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, how can he be the anti-Christ? How can anyone for that matter?” he asked. “Look into your heart, Susan, and you will find the answer.”
“I’m not sure who the Pope truly has in his heart.” DeLemus answered.
DeLemus first made headlines in 2012 when she disrupted a meeting of the state Ballot Law Commission, which had ruled against an attempt by Orly Taitz to keep Pres. Obama off the ballot in the state’s presidential primary.
The Union Leader reported DeLemus and former Rep. Henry Accornero were so aggressive that Assistant Attorney General Matt Mavrogeorge feared for his safety and retreated to a locked office where he called security.
