Republican lawmaker: 'Looks like the establishment wing of the GOP is going rather Goebellian'
The war of words between the state’s Republican establishment and conservative activists continues to escalate with one lawmaker comparing GOP “state officials” to Adolf Hitler’s propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels.
In a Facebook message, state House Rep. Tim Comerford (R-Fremont) lashed out against “the establishment wing of the GOP” for positioning U.S. Senate candidate Scott Brown as a conservative.
“A common theme is developing amongst those State officials choosing to endorse Scott Brown; they are calling him a ‘Conservative leader,’ ” Comerford wrote.
“He proudly voted for Dodd Frank legislation which is hurting small community banks and local lending ability. He voted for taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood. He is against national concealed carry reciprocity. He is for an assault weapons ban,” wrote Comerford.
“These things most decidedly do NOT a Conservative make,” Comerford declared. “Tell a big enough lie and keep repeating it and people will begin to believe you. Looks like the establishment wing of the GOP is going rather Goebellian on this one!” he continued. “Let us inform primary voters of the truth.”
