Rep. Notter blames mom for daughters' clothing: Michelle Obama 'dresses like Hoochie Momma'
Today, some Granite State politicians condemned the GOP staffer who chastised President Obama’s daughters. For others, it was an opportunity to attack the girls’ parents.
When Elizabeth Lauten, communications director for Tennessee Rep. Steven Fincher, criticized the Obama girls’ clothing and demanded they “try showing a little class,” state Rep. Al Baldasaro (R-Londonderry) responded with a Facebook post declaring politicians’ children should be off-limits.
“I have 3 daughters & 2 step daughter,” Baldasaro wrote. “I ran for office not them. I want them to be their own person. Just my opinion.”
Rep. Jeanine Notter (R-Merrimack) disagreed and fixed the blame on Michelle Obama. “When the mother dresses like Hoochie Momma to the Kids’ Choice Awards……. ‘nough said,” she wrote in a comment.
Outgoing Rep. Lenette Peterson (R-Merrimack) sided with Notter. “[P]arents need to set the standard and the boundaries. Moochella set the bar low with her lack of taste in clothing (Hoochie Momma outfit),” she wrote.
Notter and Peterson were referring the Michelle Obama’s 2012 appearance at Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards. Huffington Post reported she wore metallic skinny jeans by Helmut Lang, a sequined v-neck top by Wes Gordon and black pointy-toes pumps.
“I think she found the right balance of looking event appropriate, age appropriate and stylish,” wrote the fashion critic for Red Carpet Fashion Awards.
By the way, Urban Dictionary defines “hoochie mama” as a “female who dresses ghetto ho fabulous. Lots of gold, lots of weave-typically Pattie LaBelle style with red, purple, gold, or orange streaks, and long nails with lots of airbrush glitter, and color.”
