Rep. JR Hoell responds to Horn's plea for party unity: 'I can neither vote for, nor support' Scott Brown
Hours after New Hampshire GOP chair Jennifer Horn pressured her party’s congressional and gubernatorial candidates to promise their “full and vocal support” to the eventual Republican nominee, state House Rep. JR Hoell (R-Dunbarton) responded. “If Brown wins the nomination,” Hoell tweeted, “I can neither vote for, nor support him.”
Hoell has been outspoken in his opposition to the former Massachusetts senator. “Scott Brown is a Democrat with an ’R’ on his chest,” he told Bloomberg News. “We don’t want him here.”
Hoell and other gun rights advocates point to Brown’s support for a federal assault weapons ban following the Newtown shootings and his opposition to concealed-carry reciprocity, which earned Brown an endorsement by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg in the senate contest with Elizabeth Warren. “Scott Brown is anti-gun!!!” Hoell wrote in an online forum.
