Jasper makes good on pledge to name all GOP committee chairs, O'Brien loyalists not assuaged
When Rep. Shawn Jasper was nominated for House speaker, he promised that he would appoint Republicans to chair all of the House committees. Today he made good on that pledge as he announced the chairs and vice-chairs who will preside over the House standing committees for the next two years.
Bill O'Brien loyalists, still angry that the Republican nominee was rejected by the full House, were not mollified.
“It’s official, many on list vote Dem,” tweeted Rep. Al Baldasaro (R-Londonderry) who refused to accept a chair position under Jasper. “Only a few Conservatives accept to serve on the Democrat Appointed Speakers Leadership Team,” he added.
Rep. Dan Tamburello (R-Londonderry) – self-proclaimed warrior for truth, justice, traditional values and the American way – singled out chairs David Kidder (R-New London) and Carolyn Gargasz (R-Hollis). “Calling those phonies Republican [is] like saying Manson is a humanitarian,” he tweeted.
Tamburello accused some on the list of being Jasper’s “co-conspirators” and called them “some of the worst Republicans in the state.”
