The Forum reports state Rep. Brian Dobson resigned from the New Hampshire House of Representatives on the first day of the new session.
In November, the Nottingham Republican defeated incumbent Maureen Mann by a 3,934-3,256 margin in Rockingham District 32. The single-member floterial district comprises the towns of Candia, Deerfield, Northwood and Nottingham. In 2012, Mitt Romney carried the Republican-leaning district (PVI: R+7) with 54 percent of the vote.
On the day Dobson resigned from the House, Congressman Frank Guinta named the 12-year U.S. Army veteran to be his Veterans Field Representative. Dobson, whose military service included two tours of duty in Iraq, will be based in Guinta’s Manchester office.
A special election will be held to fill the vacant House seat if the selectmen from any one of the district’s four towns request it. State law requires the special election to be held between 110 and 124 days after the request is granted.
