GOP committee member channels Al Pacino to challenge Jennifer Horn: You’re out of order!
When Congressman Frank Guinta resisted resignation calls from Sen. Kelly Ayotte, party leaders in the legislature and state GOP chair Jennifer Horn, former House Speaker Bill O’Brien and his supporters saw an opening.
In what has become a proxy fight in the war being waged for control of the party, the conservative insurgents put aside their ideological differences with Guinta and accused party regulars of leading a lynch mob against the congressman.
The fighting spilled out during last night’s meeting of the party’s State Committee Executive Board. Kathy Dunton, a member of the Republican State Committee who sits on the Rochester School Board, describes an exchange that began with O’Brien questioning Horn about her statement condemning Guinta:
Bill O asks about her speaking out on behalf of the committee last week when she wasn’t suppose to. She said something like she would address the question but said that he was disrespectful in how he asked. (He wasn’t)
She [said] there was new information…protecting the integrity of the party…blah blah blah was all I heard. (She did more to hurt the party then Guinta ever could) The press..blah, blah blah..(the press had already stopped. They were gearing up for the Clinton-Bush Dynasty)
At which point I raised my hand. She acknowledged me and I introduced myself as Kathy Dunton, from Rochester, on the State Committee, serving the Rochester School Board. I said that I was glad Bill brought this up, I was under the impression from last months meeting that Frank would be left alone. That I have read the bylaws and that you, (Horn) are suppose to be the spokesperson for the State Committee.
She interrupted me and apologized that I had come, that this meeting was for the Executive members…
I went on and said that she did not speak for me, or for ½ of my County’s State Committee. At which time she said, “You are Out of Order!”
I said, “No Madame Chair, YOU are Out of Order”.
