GOP candidate Dan Innis begins 1st District congressional campaign $100,000 in debt
John DiStaso reports former University of New Hampshire business school dean Dan Innis has filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission for the 1st District congressional seat held by embattled Congressman Frank Guinta.
Based on his most recent FEC filing, Innis begins the campaign with over $100,000 in unpaid bills leftover from his unsuccessful 2014 primary campaign against Gunita.
The Innis campaign reported debts and obligations of $103,059: $5,146 owed to Manchester law firm Devine, Millimet & Branch for legal services, $34,255 in consulting fees due Christopher Stewart and $63,658 owed to WEDU, a Manchester-based marketing agency, for online consulting services.
For the last election cycle, Innis raised $343,344, which included $80,632 from his personal funds. His campaign committee reports having $1,172 cash on hand at the end of June.
Yesterday, Innis resigned his position as state Republican Party finance chairman to explore the rematch with Guinta. In 2014, his first campaign for public office, Innis came within 5,000 votes of Guinta in the GOP primary, receiving 41% of the votes cast to Guinta’s 49%.
In his resignation letter, DiStaso reports Innis wrote, “(Resigning) is not a decision that I made lightly. However, it is the right decision as I consider the next steps in my business career as well as my own political path, which includes exploring a run for Congress.”
